Judge María del Coro Cillán has been barred for 15 years for perverting the course of justice in judicial administration.
It has been proved that she unjustly closed down a discotheque and appointed a friend as an administrator of the company with a juicy salary. Read on, gentle readers.
The top judicial body, the CGPJ, found that she had “knowingly taken unjust decisions,” as claimed by one of the owners of the disco: in September 2011 she closed down Discoteca Moma in Madrid. The very next day she appointed judicial administrators, amongst them a close friend of hers, awarding them 18,000 euros in administration fees and a monthly payment of 2,500 euros, at the expense of the company that owned the disco.
The 15-years of being barred from practicing as a judge means that she automatically loses her normal position and, in effect, terminates her career as a judge.
*Sniff!*
