The Municipal Board for Tourism at the Nerja Town Hall has recently held a meeting in which, amongst other things, they discussed the new Coastal Protection Decree issued by the Junta. The board is made up of members of the governing party, the opposition party, and representatives of local associations from the tourist sector
The Councillor for Tourism, Bernardo Pozuelo, pointed out that the decree could affect the development of the Playazo area. Consequently all members of the board were of agreement on approaching the Junta to make sure the 500-metre limitation does not affect negatively the urban and touristic development of the area.
The Councillor stated that, “the future of Nerja is in that area,” because that is where the projected hotels will be. He also had words for the Plan Estratégico y Turístico de Nerja, which, he said, would, “set down guidelines to strengthen our tourist section.” The first part of the document is a diagnosis of the situation, which the councillor already has in his possession.
