The Almuñécar Town Hall has decided to fix the leaks caused by the El Fenicio fountain above the Paseo night bars (los bajos) so they are in the process of dismantling it.

The town-hall maintenance crews are carrying out the work on the said monument, which was designed and created by artist Miguel Moreno in 1987.

“Once again, despite improvement work, the leaks have not gone away and for this reason, the Department of Maintenance has decided to dismantle the fountain and to surround the sculpture with a different design, which doesn’t cause problems. For this reason, the Town Hall is working on several ideas, which upon receiving a consensus, will be erected,” said the department Head.
