At a Plenary Meeting of the Nerja Town Council it was agreed to send a request to the Junta de Andalucía, asking them to make good their pledge before the Town Hall concerning the Centro de Salud project.
They are asking the Junta to send the Proyecto Técnico for the proposed Centro de Salud so that it can be approved by the Town Council and then work can commence on it, explained the Councillor for Public Health, Nuchi Moreno.
She pointed out that the Town Council had already done its ‘chores’ in that respect and that the building plot is completely suitable and ready for the construction of the much needed medical centre.
It was back in 2009 when the Town Council approved the ceding of municipal land to the Junta for the project. At the same time, the Town Hall spent 236,000 euros on ‘urbanizing’ the plot; i.e., putting down the infrastructure in the form of roads, electricity, water mains and sewage.
At a recent meeting with the Head of the Regional Board of Health, Daniel Pérez, it was admitted by the Junta that there was no money for the project. The Nerja Councillors asked where the million euros were that Nerja returned to the Junta for this purpose. The Councillor insists that this money was for the medical centre and that it should have been set aside for this purpose.
But there now appears to be another stumbling block because the Junta representative, Daniel Pérez, said that the existing project had become obsolete and that a new Plan Funcional needs to be drawn up.
Councillor Nuchi Morena considers that this is just another manoeuvre by the Junta to stall the project.
