The annual palm-tree-pruning operation has begun in Almuñécar and La Herradura. The operation has started off concentrating on the urban centres and paseos, explained the Councillor for the Environment, Luis Aragón.
He said that they are taking care to eliminate the falling seeds, which if left will be trodden into the pavements, leaving a stain.
The three areas being tackled: La Herradura, Almuñécar town centre and Almuñécar paseos, are being handled by three different companies; one for each area. The private companies are Jardinalia, Humberto Vílchez and Japrotec. The municipal crews are also being employed for the task.
The Councillor pointed out that between the two towns there are 7,000 palm trees, distributed amongst the gardens, parks, paseos and streets, so the operation is liable to take a couple of months.
