Municipal Alzheimer’s Grant

The Almuñécar Town Hall has announced that it will be increasing its grant to the Asociación de Familiares de Enfermos de Alzheimer (AFAVIDA) by 66.7% on last year’s figure.

The Social Welfare Councillor, María del Carmen Reinoso, made this announcement during the inauguration of the workshop for Nutritional Intervention for Alzheimer’s Suffers, given by Elixabete Torres Rodríguez, who has “much experience in the training of carers,” said the Councillor.

“We are aware of the grave situation in which social associations find themselves,” declared Sra. Reinosa, adding that they deserve all the support that they can get. She said that she, herself, has seen the amount of hours and devotion that volunteers and families dedicate to the task.

It would be indicative, however, to discover how much the AFAVIDA received from the Town Hall last year to know exactly what this 66.7% increase represents, as percentages can be misleading.
