Judge for Yourself

The Policía Nacional in Motril arrested a man after he allegedly tied his wife to a seat and then beat the crap out of her – the police were busy that day because they arrested two other men for domestic violence.

The alleged aggressor tracked his wife down in the centre of Motril, doubled parked, forced her into his car and then drove her to an area of the Algaidas industrial estate which is under development. She had already denounced him for physical abuse, but to little avail it seems.

The man had a caravan parked there and pushed the women into it and tied her to a chair and blindfolded her. Bear in mind that this is all allegedly and reportedly. Once she was tied securely he started to hit her until he tired of it and left. The woman took advantage of his absence to wiggle free and escape. She then ran to the police station and denounced what had happened to her.

The police immediately activated the battered-wife protocol and installed her in a safe flat. They weren’t able to find him that day, but they eventually did, four days later. They staked out the law courts, where she was to give evidence at a hearing, just in case he decided to turn up. Although he didn’t make it to the law courts, he came close enough to get caught, at the Motril bus station.

It wasn’t the first time that he had been arrested for this kind of crime.

On the same day that the woman was going through her ordeal in the caravan, there were two other cases of domestic violence in Motril. One was were a man began to beat his wife up in broad daylight on a busy street – he couldn’t give a damn, obviously, about witnesses, and the other involved a man who broke a court order to stay away from his estranged wife to ‘pay her a visit.’ He fled afterwards but was later tracked down and caught that same day.
