Wrong Car; Wrong Person

(Granada city) Luis García Díaz is not a happy bunny after receiving a traffic fine… for a car that isn’t his and for a traffic incident in a place where he hadn’t set foot in the last ten years.

Luis, from Albaicin, received notification in the post of a 300-euro fine for speeding along a stretch of road in Almería. He is a doctor, specialising in house visits, so he is used to traveling, but in Almeria on the said day, he was most definitely not, because he had been working in a medical centre in Granada at the time.

The only piece of information that the Direccion General de Trafico appears to have got right is the make of car; he does own a Renault Laguna, but not with that number plate.

The fine states that on the 24th of March 2011 he was registered as traveling at 120kph along a stretch of road with a speed limit of 70kph.

To make matters worse, he has to submit a report each week to the Health Board explaining where he has been and when, but now this speeding fine has made him look a liar before his bosses.
