The Motril law courts have barred a female lawyer from practicing after finding that she had allegedly swindled a client out of 2,750 euros.
The said lawyer, who received a six month ban, had been hired by a women to defend her son at the beginning of 2002, who was facing a drugs-related charge. The lawyer verbally agreed to accept the case and consequently received sums of money at periodic intervals, reaching a total of 2,750 euros, but with a receipt never changing hands.
The judge considered that the lawyer never had the slightest intention of taking any action on her clients behalf.
