A woman from San Pedro de Alcantara was sent to a psychiatric ward after stabbing her husband whilst he slept.

At her trial the 38-year-old woman recognised that she was guilty as accused, but it was considered that owing to her bipolar condition she was not criminally responsible for her actions.

The attack occurred in April when she took a 5-cm kitchen knife up to the bedroom and stabbed the sleeping 46-year-old man in the chest twice. The man was taken to hospital in a serious condition (and seriously pissed off, is a safe bet) but is recovering from both his injuries and surprise.
