N-340 Undergoing Resurfacing

At last! Eight years after the last retarmacking operation on the N-340 where it passes between the eastern access to Motril and the Granada junction, a generous layer of tarmac is being laid.

The Almuñécar Town Hall has been busy tidying up the verges of the municipality’s country lanes, cutting back the grass along the access lane for Pago de Guerra, just above La Herradura

Gelibra Lane Unfinished?

Joaquín Mingorance Romero,who is the chairman of the Asociación de Vecinos de Gelibra, (Almuñécar) has made a written complaint to the Town Hall, expressing his rejection of the Council’s response to a request made in September 2011 for the work on the access lane to Gelibra to be completed; i.e., tarmacked, etc.

El Cerval Access Tarmacked

Locals from Pago de Río Jate and El Cerval are having their access lane tarmacked from end to end (sounds painful, admittedly), according to Rural-Area Coordinator, Francisco Alba. This is thanks to funds from the Junta de Andalucia, belonging to the Encamina2 programme, which also included the tarmacking of the Los Mateos access lane.

Be Warned: Los Mateos Access Cut

As of Monday the 21st right up until the end of the month, the access road for Los Mateos (near Rescate) will be cut whilst roadworks are carried out. This affected section joins the junction on the rural lane leading up to Peña Escrita to the hamlet.

N-340 Improvements

Anybody travelling between La Herradura and Almuñecar will have noted road workers laying tarmac and other improvements.
The other improvements in question being stabilization work, which can be seen going on below the road, beside the main junction – there has been a boring machine that has been sinking horizontal piles to stabilize the road bank.
