Mesón Magic

Alex at the fabulous Meson in the town hall square, Almuñécar tells me he is now offering a menu del dia consisting of a choice of 2 starters, a choice of 2 mains, dessert, one drink and coffee, all at just €9.50 with IVA included.

Tartana Valentines

Romance is in the air. Celebrate Valentines Day (or any day for that matter) with a special night out at La Tartana in La Herradura.

Arrayanes Events

Things are rather lively down at Hotel Arrayanes on the Cotobro beach. Not only are they putting on a fantastic Valentines Menu for just €35 on both the 13th and 14th of February, but you can also pop along on any Wednesday at 4pm and enjoy a Traditional Tea Dance! Mercedes is even putting on cucumber sandwiches and scones, and all for just €5!

VIP Visit

La Herradura had a famous visitor at the end of December. Although the event went largely unnoticed, the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, dropped in one Sunday to enjoy some afternoon sunshine and a bite to eat.
Joaquin at Chamboa de Joaquin has been a busy man lately, with his spectacular annual charity paella event in Almuñécar, and prior to that, where did Ms. McAleese and her entourage decide to enjoy a view of the bay and a bit of Spanish nosh? You’ve guessed it!

El Faro 2010

With a heated patio area El Faro may well be the warmest bar in Almuñécar! Open daily from 10am ‘til late, and showing Sky and ESPN on three indoor screens and one on the cosy patio, this family bar is a winter must!

Rincón de Velilla

Enjoy the menu of the day, consisting of three courses + drink for only 9 € (incl. IVA) and don’t forget Happy Hour every day from 19:00-20:00, when you can buy a drink and get one free!

Super Sheng!

It has been noted that I am rather partial to a bit of Asian cuisine. So I was looking forward to my first meal at Sheng in Almuñécar, who serve specialities from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and China.
The restaurant is in C/Larache on the corner of Edif. Alhambra, and boasts a very stylish layout, with friendly staff and beautifully presented tables.

Los Laureles

There’s always the feeling that the party’s over once we get into January. Well, with that in mind, Mark at the brilliant Los Laureles has decided to make the first month of 2010 a bit more interesting, especially on those quiet evenings when you’re sitting at home and wondering what to do with yourself.
