Unimpressive Bank Holiday

The early December, bank holiday, El puente de la Constitución, was not good for trade on the coast, but then again, it rarely is as it falls at the end of the Autumn rainy season.

Rain Damage

Onto the weather – a topic of endless interest to Brits everywhere. More specifically, to the damage now starting to show up after the endless deluges that made our winter.

The Earth Moves

It’s pretty much all downhill from here, No pun intended, but we have mudslides all over. Reports are flooding in (groan) of walls subsiding, land sliding down hills, so-called dry walls slipping, etc., etc. There have been problems ranging from La Caleta, where a local car park has been threatened by stones falling from 30 metres and crushing cars below, to Molvízar, where huge rocks fell from a private property wall to block the Coto 200.

Undermined?

It was back in 2004 when the Seaside Gazette reported on what appeared to be the commencement of an illegal build next to Urbanización El Gallo, Punta de la Mona.

Money for Road Damage

You will all, no doubt be pleased to hear that the Central Government and the Junta de Andalucía are going to chuck three million euros at the Alpujarra road system…

Rain Damage Soportújar

Whilst Collado is bemoaning a lack of electricity, Soportújar has been without drinking water or irrigation water, thanks to the rain, ironically enough.
