It’s pretty much all downhill from here, No pun intended, but we have mudslides all over. Reports are flooding in (groan) of walls subsiding, land sliding down hills, so-called dry walls slipping, etc., etc. There have been problems ranging from La Caleta, where a local car park has been threatened by stones falling from 30 metres and crushing cars below, to Molvízar, where huge rocks fell from a private property wall to block the Coto 200.
Anecdotal reports also indicate more ‘slide’ problems on the Monte de los Almendros, with walls, and even houses, in a state of near collapse. We haven’t had any updates from the Urbanisación Alfamar, but it’s hard to imagine things are very much better there. The weather, in conjunction with the unusual amount of heavy truck traffic from the motorway construction, has also caused some serious damage to our roads out here in el campo. There are now some huge potholes in most of the roads, of a tyre-ripping capability.
Naturally, upon asking who might be responsible for repairing such damage, the usual circle is formed, with fingers pointing in every direction. Town Hall sources say it’s the Diputacion de Granada. (Provincial Council) Aforesaid Diputacion says nothing, which apparently is its usual course of ‘action’ – not a jot of which seems likely to be demonstrated. It’s only likely to get worse, with the unusual amount of heavy vehicle activity we’re going to see as work on the motorway continues.
