A friend who works somewhere in the port area sent us two photos of the cruise ships that had come into Motril Port this morning; Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Dawn.
Tourism on the Costa Tropical, just like the rest of Spain’s coastlines, is taking a big hit, but it’s not just empty hotels & chiringuitos, but the ports, too.
This autumn will see larger cruise ships docking at Motril Port, countering the drop in overall passenger figures at the beginning of the year.
Everybody from the Mayor down to the smallest bar owner knows that the visiting cruise ships are a blessing for the local economy.
Let the cruise begin! April saw the official start of the cruise season for Motril with the arrival of Funchal, a Portuguese liner. 250 passengers were on board and of those, 80 made the trip to Granada or Nerja and the other 170 visited Motril.
