This autumn will see larger cruise ships docking in Motril Port, countering the drop in overall passenger figures at the beginning of the year.
First to arrive this coming season will be the Nieuw Amsterdam, with 2,106 passengers aboard, followed by the Ocean Princes, The Minerva and the Saga Pearl II, amongst others.
Motril port authorities calculate that there will be around 4,000 cruise-ship passengers arriving between October and November.
However, this year in general the ships have been smaller, carrying fewer passengers
The upcoming inauguration of the dock extension (some 300 metres) will improve, considerably the port’s competitive capacity, both in passenger traffic as well as mercantile, as well as improving manoeuvring space, thanks to deeper water.
