As the day began, yesterday, the residents of Calle Juan 23E were on the watch for anybody sneaking up on them… to cut the water supply off. And 12 of the 14 affected families have been taking turns on watch since Monday the 1st of August.

The newly started ferry service between Motril and Melilla has just had the first incident of somebody using the ship to smuggle drugs over into Spain.
Horse Causes Road Accident

Three members of a family; two men and their mother, were injured when their van collided with a horse on the N-340 between Motril and Torrenueva. The animal had escaped from a field near Motril. It took seven hours before the animal, which was in agony, was put down.

Well, they pulled it off, with over 30,000 people visiting the Costa Tropical’s first combined gastronomic fair, in a good part, thanks to the organizational pull and punch of the Ideal provincial newspaper, who got the whole thing going.
Drowned Man Found off Salobrena Beach

The body of a man aged between 40 and 50 was found floating just off a Salobrena beach on the 24th of July, between the Penon (Peñon) and La Caleta.

The provincial law court has just confirmed the ex-Mayor’s acquittal by the local court in Motril, together with the other five councillors that stood trial with him over the illegally-built sports hall in the Rio Jate vega.
A-7 Protests

Politicians, business owners and residents in general gathered along the N-340 where it passes through Torrenueva to protest at the lack of progress on the Mediterranean motorway (autovia) where it passes through the province of Granada – i.e., the only province in the whole of the Mediterranean coastline of Spain that does not have the A-7 thoroughfare.

Well, the new boys in the Salobrena Town Hall appear to have their act together as Lobres can actually enjoy the TV now, along with the rest of Spain. Until now the TDT (Television Digital Terrestre) has been pretty rubbish.

Coastal News: The Junta de Andalucia has announced that it will try to develop the resources of the municipalities on the Costa Tropical through its POT (Plan de Ordenacion del Territorio), which is the area equivalent to a municipalities PGOU (General Urban Development Plan).
