Barrio Espinar Facelift

The new team at the Town Hall helm are keen to leave their mark on La Herradura, which can been seen with the recent activity in Barrio Espinar.

First of all, the steps that lead from the barrio up to Camino Real are having paving stones laid. Secondly, the little gardens are being tidied up and replanted and finally the walls that run down the gully bed have been re-painted.

The First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz explained, “these tasks are part and parcel of a drive to put right deficiencies. In the case of the steps, which up till now were just plain concrete, which has deteriorated over time, causing damp in adjacent buildings, besides being a danger for pedestrians.”

He also referred to the plant and flower beds, where the bushes have been cut back. Some of the branches had been encroaching upon a transformer, having been missed during the last garden work. Finally, as mentioned at the beginning of the article, the gully concrete flood walls have been returned to their brilliant white appearance, along the lines of the ones running up along the Acera del Pilar.
