Almuñécar Bank Robbers Rumbled

The Guardia Civil has managed to identify the two suspects from the bank robbery that was carried out in Almuñécar on the 19th of April. One of the suspects, a 24-year-old from Málaga, has already been arrested.

Woman Shot Dead During Shoot Out

Concepción Barreiro was unlucky enough to be standing at a bus stop in front of a bank in Aznalfarache, Sevilla, when a raid took place. The 54-year-old women was accompanied by her young daughter when she received a bullet in the head, fruit of the cross fire between Policía Local and bank robbers.

Guardia Civil Sergeant Beaten

Three of the seven people that attacked a Guardia Civil sergeant in the pensioners’ club in Montejícar have been arrested, whilst the the other four; three women and a minor have been released pending trial.

Darkness Defeated

Sometimes, something doesn’t have to be new to please people; sometimes just getting something old fixed is enough, which is the case of the long none-functioning street light in front of the Hotel Almijarra entrance of the Acera de Pilar in La Herradura.

Schubert in the Church

Shubert’s German Mass, which was performed in Almuñécar’s main church by the Juventudes Musicales Choir, amongst others, was a tremendous success. Also performing was the Almuñequero pianist, Pablo Ruiz, and the Municipal School of Music.

Segovia Facelift Progress

Well, there has been plenty of revamping work going on during the winter and spring along the streets of La Herradura to show off to the summer visitors… if they come. The latest modifications have reached the campsite, half way along Paseo de Andrés Segovia, as part of a process to sort out the pavements…

Art in the Park

The Chairman of Artex de Almuñécar Francid L. Ruiz, tells us that there will be a photographic, sculpture and painting exhibition in the Majuelo park today, (Sunday 27th) at five in the afternoon.

Flamenco Theatre in Almuñécar

Many of our readers already know the very popular flamenco artistes, María la Canastera and her flamenco-guitarist husband, Carmelo, El Niño. I remember them as child artistes performing together with Rosa and Ricardo de la Juana. The pure sentiment that María and Carmelo, seemingly effortlessly, transmit throughout their performances leaves nobody untouched.

Bikers Come To Town

Almuñécar’s Annual bike meet, organised by Los Tiburones, will be offering plenty of chrome, leather jackets and mono-cylindral thunder on the 2nd and 3rd of June at the habitual venue; i.e., right down along Taramay, Playa Pozuelo.
