Flamenco Theatre in Almuñécar

Many of our readers already know the very popular flamenco artistes, María la Canastera and her flamenco-guitarist husband, Carmelo, El Niño. I remember them as child artistes performing together with Rosa and Ricardo de la Juana. The pure sentiment that María and Carmelo, seemingly effortlessly, transmit throughout their performances leaves nobody untouched.

This year, María has set up a flamenco, theatre play counting on their 40 pupils, under the direction of Carmelo. The play is about a Gipsy family with six daughters, set on the street where they live. It covers the lives of the daughters as they grow, their loves and tribulations.

I wish we had more room to tell you more, but this you find out for yourselves on the 22nd of June for the play’s debut at the Casa de la Cultura at 21.00h, with the modest entrance fee of just five euros – a date not to miss.
