Marina Projects and the POT

Coastal News: The Junta de Andalucia has announced that it will try to develop the resources of the municipalities on the Costa Tropical through its POT (Plan de Ordenacion del Territorio), which is the area equivalent to a municipalities PGOU (General Urban Development Plan).

7 Star in Trouble

According to the IU (left-wing coalition) the Junta called on the Almunecar Town Hall to annul the building licence for the 7-star hotel in Cotobro on the Penon del Lobo on the 30th of June, days before the local elections.

Moutain Fire Extinguished

A brush fire broke out at 13.30 on Thursday 22nd in the Gelibra area (Los Perez), which is a hamlet/cortijada up above Torrecuevas, almost within the Jete municipal border.

I Freestyle Supercross

On the 13th of August, Almunecar will hold a free-style super-cross competition that will guarantee slack-jaw awe from its spectators! The event, which will count on the top names on a national level, will also include musical performances, a lazer and fireworks display, and a BMX exhibition, as well as the actual jumping competition.

The Guardia Civil arrested a young man and a minor on a building site in Velilla, whom they had caught in the act of allegedly stripping copper from electrical installations.

Blue Zone Changes in Almunecar

We managed to collar Francisco Prados, who is the leader of the local PSOE and opposition leader, concerning the Blue Zones in Almunecar. He confirmed that in the first Plenary meeting of the Town Council it was agreed to reduce the Blue Zone timetables, although not as much as his party had proposed.

The Plaza de Damasco, which is just in front of Caja Rural, Av. Andalucia, has had a facelift… only a year after its last one. Now, gone are the tombs-cum-marble Korans, for instance, as nobody actually seemed to like them, much less know for certain what the hell they were supposed to be.
