The Izquierda Unida has denounced what they consider to be ‘dirty tricks’ within the Town Hall concerning the recently reinstated workers: an anonymous letter is being circulated between the municipal offices, rejecting the reincorporation of these workers.
The IU not only considers it to be dirty manoeuvring, but also says that it is out-right cowardly, as nobody had the ‘guts’ to sign the letter.
Five workers had previously been unfairly dismissed from their jobs within the town hall by the ex-Mayor, Juan Carlos Benavides. The affair was taken to court and a judge ordered their readmission to their previously held posts.
When we say that the letter was unsigned, it would be more accurate to say it was ‘issued by a fictitious person,’ as the missive was written by an ‘Independent Candidate for Public Functionaries,’ which subsequent investigation has shown not to exist. Furthermore, the letter has no signature or DNI (personal ID number), which is obligatory on such official documents.
Lastly, the local leader of the IU, Fermin Tejero, criticises the Delegacion del Gobierno for allowing undue ‘echoing of the content’ of an anonymous document. He said that he was surprised by the speed with which the Government reacted when much more controversial cases, deserved of investigation, were archived out of hand.
