At least once a year, the turning off the main road for Rancho Rio Verde, looks like a tornado’s hit a Sao Paolo shanty town – and this year is no exception.
The locals are not happy, which is understandable, because the refuse collectors of the municipal rubbish-collection service for old furniture, etc, must believe that their knobs will fall off if they so much as glance in that general direction – what other explanation can there be?
Not only, the residents point out, is Rancho Rio Verde part of the municipality and thus has the right to have the rubbish removed, but they also point out that the spectacle is an eyesore for anybody passing through Almuñécar on the N-340 – hardly the sort of image that the town wants visitors to remember us by.
All visits and phone calls to the Town Hall to date have proved fruitless, so they consider that they have no other option than to go public over the situation.
