21st of June is Father’s Day, and in celebration of this, Mark is preparing a fantastic three-course menu for just €15, with a choice of three starters, mains and desserts. He assures me that one of the mains will be Roast Sirloin of Beef and the puddings will be typically ‘dad pleasing’ dishes. Bearing in mind the success of the Mother’s Day menu, we strongly suggest you book your table well in advance.
he Editor said to me there was a hole, and he needed me to look into it, which I did, and it was deep!
The real point is, that many of us, on occasion, need holes, whether it is for a septic tank, a swimming pool or even footings for a building project. And this is where J.D. Mini Maquinaria comes in with their range of excavators and dumpers with drivers.
Did you know that the Mirador de Cerro Gordo is expanding? Not in size, obviously, because if it got any bigger it would slide off the top of hill and down onto La Herradura beach… which, I admit, would have a certain comedy value, but then where would we all go?
Seriously, they are expanding their hours to seven days a week, all day, from 11am. Which is great for me, as I love it up there… in fact last time I was there Kevin donned a night shirt, a floppy hat and was wandering around with a candle… I think maybe I’d outstayed my welcome?
The brilliant, family-run Lavanderia Avenida in Almuñécar is opposite the Costa Banana apartment blocks, just as you enter town at the Guardia Civil junction on the right, and they are offering 10% off all their services!

However, for commercial units, you really should be sticking to the 6-month rule.
The lads at Iguana Playa (Taramay, Almuñécar) tell us that they will be opening everyday, instead of closing Mondays, from the beginning of June on.
Wowzers! Many residents were left with crinks in their necks at the end of April, after craning to get a good look at the convoy of shiny automobiles cruising through town. In celebration of ‘25 years of routes,’ the Veteran Automobile Club of Granada was showing off in good-old-fashioned style by circling the province in…
TSG: Last month there was lots of ‘turbulence’, so what we would like to do is put over your take on things.
JCB: OK, let’s go
TSG: There were many people that didn’t agree – did not understand why – the road works on the Avenida de Andalucía had to start just before Semana Santa. We put in last months Gazette that we had spoken with the Town Hall engineer who said that Almuñécar was tied to a start date as far as the grant was concerned. Could you add anything to this?
Summer is very nearly upon us, and we are already enjoying sunny days and warm weather, and where could be better to spend those warm afternoons, than on the terraces of La Tartana in Urb. San Nicolás, La Herradura.
What about Arboreum? Well, this classy interior design shop in Almuñécar has moved… but not very far. In fact, just a few doors down from where they used to be, and I can even give you really good directions!
