The mystery of the poisoned dogs grips the upper part of the Río Verde; namely, Jete and Otívar! By the end of November past, over 20 pets had met their untimely end, thanks to poisoned bait. And we’re not talking about poison being put down in the plantations, but even within the streets of the…

Keeping to the theme of animals, the Almuñécar, municipal horse stables are now open and functioning, following criticism from the PSOE opposition party, a couple of months ago, about the state the facilities were in, and how they had been inoperative for almost two years. Weather 1, Market 0

The wind and rain made short work of the market stalls in the town-hall square, which is a pity, as it is a good festive idea.

Pieces of Pep
by Editor •
Pep Benaiges, the pen behind the Gazette’s Spanish article, El Catalejos, is one of the most likeable people in La Herradura. He speaks excellent English and is very much into theatre, which runs in his family. But besides that, he has also probably the village’s most well known insurance broker/financial advisor, who set up business here in 1994.

Jed, Mandy and the very popular Jonathan, from ‘El Ancla’ have joined forces and reopened La Tartana. The place has had a complete refurbishment, which gives it a fresher, lighter and brighter feel, as has the menu, which continues to offer superb quality food, complete with children’s menu at very competitive prices.
