Did everybody see the spectacular Infoca operation in La Herradura bay on the 19th of August, with the aircraft swooping in and picking up huge amounts of seawater?
Road Sign Madness
by David Darby •
There was an interesting article in Ideal, pointing out the failures of the signage at the main entrance and exit to the village. The problem being that there is no sign for the A-7.
Summer Over
by David Darby •
The summer is just about done, and the sensible will have arrived back, or will soon be arriving back from northern Europe after escaping the August madness of ‘blue-zone blues,’ packed beaches, short tempers in cars and suicidal youths on mopeds.
It’s Here
by David Darby •
For Almuñécar the road-borne misery is over… or is it? This summer, the Taramay roundabout could be very congested, with cars coming off the autovía to join the N-340 and meeting heavy traffic coming from Salobreña – normally in the form of tailbacks.
La Herradura Riding
by David Darby •
If you’re struggling to think of something to do during your stay in our area, why not phone Karen at the La Herradura Riding Centre, and book either a riding lesson or even better, a few hours in the saddle.
What better way of seeing our beautiful area, with rides through rivers, beaches and mountains, and you even get to stop for drinks, and what Karen doesn’t know about trekking in this area, isn’t worth knowing anyway.
Tienda Danesa
by David Darby •
This fantastic little jewellery store and workshop, in the centre of Almuñécar will be celebrating their 5th anniversay on 28th of Aug. To that end, all friends and customers will get drinks and snacks for the whole day!
Artetrópico
by David Darby •
Tucked away in a little corner of Motril’s town centre a delightful little gallery-come-art centre has recently opened its doors. Run by the fabulous and somewhat eccentric Virginia Ruiz Mansilla this creative little haven offers local artists the chance to exhibit their work and rub shoulders with other like-minded souls.
Concerts by Candlelight
by David Darby •
Not to be missed this month are the charming ‘concerts by candlelight’ in the gardens of the Palacete de la Najarra (tourist information centre).
Set against the most gorgeous of backdrops the line up is pretty eccentric with something to suit most every musical taste, or at least offer something a little different from the norm.
Yuan Wok
by David Darby •
If you have never eaten at a Wok style Asian Restaurant, then you have truly missed out. Being a lover of Asian cuisine, this is one of my favourite concepts.
You choose from uncooked super fresh ingredients, take them to the guy at the wok, who will give you a choice of sauces… he then cooks the fresh food in front of you while you wait. It is delicious beyond belief!
Falafel
by David Darby •
Nowhere else will you find such a complete Arabic menu, with cus cus, falafel, taboule and even Arabic veggie dishes. If the fancy takes you, you could even partake of a delicious mint tea! Or even try a homemade Arabic desert.
