There were two road accidents on the A-44 on the northbound lanes yesterday morning with the second being a consequence of the first.

The first accident occurred at 11.25h near kilometre point 153, which is within the municpality of Cozvíjar. The driver, for whatever reason, lost control of his vehicle and left the road, turning over. Witness said that people were trapped inside.

The Granada Fire Department were called out by 112, together with the Guardia Civil traffic police and an ambulance. When they arrived, they found two adults and their children (number unspecified), all of whom had to be cut out of the wreckage.

Minutes after the accident occurring, the tail back began and soon there were knock-on collisions resulting in another vehicle turning over. The Emergency Coordination Centre despatched back-up in the form of another fire truck and ambulance.

The Guardia Civil confirmed that there at least two people were injured in these two accidents with on person being traken to hospital in Granada.

Which brings us onto an abandoned car on the A-7 access roundabout & flyover for lobres, which has been thoroughly worked over either by the people who abandoned it (probably a stolen car) or scavengers. It is up on bricks with no wheels, no number plate and much of the interior dismantaled. Most likely, then, stolen and striped before being abandoned.
