Torrox Policía Local moved against nearly 50 different properties with squatters and makeshift encampments over the summer to tackle fire, flooding, and hygiene hazards.

Operations focused heavily on sites near riverbeds or spots with mattresses, waste, and debris, which lacked basic safety and sanitation.

For example, the encampment under the Río Güi bridge was cleared for a second time this summer due to severe flash-flood risks.

In fact, during the last week alone, 15 encampments were dismantled and 12 people were evicted across areas like Llano de los Frailes and the Río Torrox mouth, although nobody was arrested.

The Policía Local were not carrying out these operations alone, as they were accompanied by the Guardia Civil, municipal Social Services, and Civil Protection volunteers.

Following evictions, the town rubbish-collection & street clearning service, FCC Caviclum, mmediately cleaned up and restored the areas where encampments had been, removing all accumulated waste.
