Quick aside, when we say “Thank God,” any one will do, but anyway, to the point, the Ministry of Transport has announced the conclusion of work on the A-7 tunnels.

These works were to modernise the following tunnels: Los Ramoncillos, La Guapa, El Acebuchal and the Madroño, all of which lie within the Province of Granada between Castell de Ferro and Sorvilán.
The funds came from the EU *Gasp!* under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR). The modernising work was on the fire equipment, ventillation, safety & emergency lighting, communications, CCTV and the automatic detection of incidents within the tunnel.
Also included is a new centralised control system (SCADA) for real-time supervision for the four tunnels; maintenance-access tunnels and emergency exits.
Oh, and whilst they were in there, they also laid a lick of new tarmac and installed new fire-hyrant points.
