Lanjaron’s Tourist Office

The Mayor of Lanjarón, Eric Escobedo, who occupies a second post in the Provincial Council, announced changes in the Municipal Tourism Office.

These changes are part of the Plan de Sostenibilidad Turística en Destino (PSTD) entitled, Lanjarón, Pueblo del Agua.

The Councilor for Tourism, Ana Esturillo, who accompanied the Mayor, explained that “These actions fall within the digitalisation axis of the Tourism Sustainability Plan, and not only have the brochures and maps been renewed (updating them and adapting them to the visitor’s profile) but also all the digital equipment and the survey and profiling system.”

So leaving aside comments from the Mayor and Councillor, what is actually different?

Well, firstly and apparently, you will now find the Tourist Office open, whereas most of winter, it’s closed. We spoke with the woman who mans the office and she explained that the Tourist Office closes From Los Reyes (5th January) to the Día de Andalucía (28th February).

Secondly, they bought a modern computer and two tablets, which will “streamline customer service and optimise the management of tourism information.”

What we do know is that the input into these computer programmes will comprise information about tourists seeking tourist information; i.e., their profiles, their interests, and their level of satisfaction. Hopefully, this info will help the Town Council improve services.

  • There is also more information in paper, such as brochures in Braille… for the blind or visually impaired to go sightseeing…
  • The new municipal street map, updated to make it easier for visitors to find their way around.
  • A brochure on the network of local hiking routes.
  • The new tourist guide entitled, Lanjarón in three days for those visiting the municipality during weekends or bank-holiday weekends.
  • Updated Water Museum brochures.
  • Guides covering accommodation and catering establishment.

Editorial comment: We will be delivering mags in Lanjarón and Órgiva so we will check it out.
