A British tourist in his 50s suffered a sudden heart attack, walking in the company of his family in Nerja on Sunday.
This occurred on the pedestrian path between Playa Burriana and Playa Carabeíllo around 12 o’clock noon.

Fortunately, the quick reactions of two bystanders probably saved his life; one of whom was an off-duty fireman based in the city of Granada and the other was a local therapeutic-pedagogy teacher.
They immediately carried out First Aid, with the former performing CPR on the man. They were soon assisted by two lifeguards from the nearby beach equipped with a semi-automatic defibrillator.
The combination of this apparatus and the fast response and continuous efforts by the two passersby proved crucially essential for saving his life.
An ambulance from the local Centro de Salud arrived together with officers from the Policía Local, completing a spontaneous coordination between all involved during those first minutes, they were able to restart his heart.
He was then rushed to the Axarquía Regional Hospital, where he remains under medical observation.
Fortunately this is not the first time that a rapid community response has successfully prevented a tragedy in the Axarquía. In past months, similar swift actions by trained citizens and off-duty healthcare workers saved an athlete who collapsed in Vélez-Málaga and in another incident, an elderly man in Caleta de Vélez.
Enhorabuena.
