DUI on an Electric Scooter

If there is one thing worse than a cyclist, it's an idiot on an electric scooter - just checking to see if Aitor is still following us! If you are, welcome!

Anyway, the Policía Local in the city of Granada nabbed a lunatic on an electric scooter who was seven times over the limit for alcohol consumption at the controls of a vehicle, bless his cotton socks.

Officers couldn’t believe their luck when they saw this improvised circus act coming into view and skimming through a red light.

They caught up with him, breathalysed him and found that he had 1.78 mg per litre of air expelled, which is so far over the limit that you need a ladder to reach it.

As a consequence, the rider was fined a total of 1,500 euros; 1,000 euros for driving under the influence of alcohol and 500 euros for running the red light. They should have confiscated the scooter and welded it to his front door, however.

Mind you, this Lone Ranger is not the only case of twinned-wheeled dementia because others have been caught using headphones or going two up. Some have been done for not having registered the vehicle and not having an insurance — both of which are obligatory.
