Obit: Danielle Gouwens

Danielle was a 55-year-old Netherlander who set up her own business in the valley, At home in Andalusia, in 2006, specialising in properties for foreign clients.

When she first arrived in Spain she worked in the real-estate business in the north and other parts of the country but when she discovered the Valle de Lecrín, like so many before and after her, she fell in love with it.

The accident that would cost her her life took place on Friday in Chite where she was taking prospective clients around to view a property.

The fall, although only a couple of metres, took her life the next day in the ICU in Hospital de Traumatologia, Virgen de Las Nieve in Granada. Her funeral was held on the following Monday.

Although understandably hit hard by the loss of Danielle, her staff At Home in Andalusia continue to handle business, led by the office manager, Catherine Walkley.

Everybody will understand the emotional commotion in the agency and how difficult it is to carry on with the many day-to-day tasks that they are coping with, but being a fully professional team, they will continue to deliver a professional service as always.

Editorial comment: I first met Danielle just before I moved up to the valley from the coast in 2023, as I was delivering magazines around the area. The Gazette would like to express our sincere condolences to her family, friends an colleagues.
