Pharmacy on Playa Granada

Playa Granada appears to be on growth hormones because construction there just doesn’t seem to stop, but what is lacking is amenities… until now.

Yes, there is now a sub-pharmacy on Playa Granada, which is dependant upon a larger pharmacy on Playa Poniente. With this new premises, Motril now has three pharmacy outposts spread across the municipality: one in Varadero, one in Puntalón, and now one in Playa Granada.

The establishment is run by local pharmacist, José Francisco González Vilas, who explained: “It is exactly like a pharmacy. You can pick up medications, bring your prescription, ask for health advice… the same thing, except it depends on the parent pharmacy, which in our case is in Playa Poniente.”

The good news that it is not seasonal, meaning that it won’t close its doors during the law season but will instead be open all year round.

Playa Granada already has over 1,000 inhabitants in the winter, but, just like Salobreña, Almuñécar and La Herradura that figure can quadruple during the summer months, owing to the influx of tourists flocking to the beaches.

At the moment there are around 3,000 dwellings, but the development companies Molina Olea and Osuna are finishing off another 270 new ones.

Editorial comment: how long before Playa Poniente and Playa Granada grow so much that they want to go the same way as Carchuna and Calahonda, seeking independence?
