The Councillor for Culture & Fiestas, Alberto Manuel García Gilabert, has published the cultural and pre-Christmas programme covering up to Christmas Eve.

Although these activities began yesterday with the arrival of Santa Claus, etc, things continue today at noon in El Pozuelo Park in Taramay, with La Navidad se vive al aire libre en Almuñécar, featuring music, sports activities, bouncy castles, paella at affordable prices, and with Red Interloper, Santa Claus, gate crashing again, where the Three Kings had always ruled the roost.

There also a gig by the Blue Moons. Not sure whether they chose that name because they don’t play very often… just asking! Anyway, that’s Saturday at 20.00h in the Casa de La Cultura.

Then on Sunday at 19:00h, the Casa de La Cultura will be the venue for the ballet Romeo and Juliet, with music by Sergei Prokofiev, performed by an international company and considered one of the most representative works of the classical repertoire. We announced this date for your diary about a week back.

Whilst all that is going on, starting from yesterday and ending on Sunday the Christmas Market is taking place on the Paseo del Altillo, where you can buy all sort of handicraft products, from soaps to sweetmeats and from ethnic trinkets to leather wear. Nothing kinky, so calm down.

The cultural programme continues next week with new events, such as the Christmas workshop scheduled for Monday in Plaza Marruecos; something from kiddies, and the ‘Sophie Sings Christmas’ concert at the Casa de la Cultura at 19.30h .

Hell, there’s even a Santa Claus parade, starting out from the Virgen de La Antigua junior school at 18.30h, which will wend its way through startled streets on Tuesday, as well as a Christmas carol performance.
