Salobreña’s La Caleta Beach

Things are afoot concerning Playa La Caleta and the old sugar factory there; they are going to carry out a project study that involves gobbling up part of the sugar factory's terrain.

It appears that the yard belonging to La Azucarera de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, at least, is not heritage protected, whereas the factory itself most probably is.

Whilst the project study is being drawn up, they will also commission an environmental-impact study. Why they need this second study is because they would need to demolish the seawall and build a new one in its place but about 30 metres set back. Within the new seawall would be a paseo so that you La Caleta and Playa La Guardia are connected.

The plan to dump 8,000 sq/m of sand on the other side of the seawall, creating a beach and also build a small breakwater or groyne.

Right, companies interested have to get a bid in before the 23rd of this month. Once having obtained the contract the chosen company will have 12 months to carry the work out with a budget of 139.299 (IVA included).

Editorial comment: here have been plans to muck about wit the small beach alongside the La Caleta quay but they found on the presence of a type of shellfish, so they would have had to scoop them all up, without upsetting them, and place them down nicely somewhere else. I looked for the artcle but I did see one from 2020 aiming to do something similiar.
