There was an earth tremor in the metropolitan area of Granada on Sunday that measured 2.4 of magnitude on the Richter Scale.

The seismic movement had its epicentrre beneath Albolote, some three kilometres down, according to the Instituo Geográfico Nacional. 

The seismic shock was registered just after nine in the evening and its effects were felt in nearby Atarfe, Peligros, Calicasas and Maracena, owing to its shallow depth. 

The emergency call centre, 112, also received calls from Pinos Puente, Santa Fe, Granada, Churriana de la Vega, Armilla, Las Gabias, Moclín, Huétor Vega, Ogíjares, La Zubia, Chimeneas, Íllora, Benalúa de las Villas and Iznalloz.

However, there was no physical damage reported nor injuries to residents or animals.
