Obelisk on the Move

The Public Works Department for Motril Town Hall announced that on Monday the 1st of October the obelisk on the corner of Calle Cuevas will be moved.

The structure will be transported along Calle Cuevas to where it can be repaired and improved with LED lighting and placed on one of the roundabouts on the Las Ventillas entrance to Motril.

Consequently, on the first of next month, Calle Cuevas and Calle López Rubio will be closed to traffic between 15.00h and 21.00h. The obelisk, if you are wondering where exactly it is, is right next to Plaza Aurora.

Editorial comment: Bear in mind that the last time that the Town Hall removed something to restore and place on the roundabout, they completely buggered it up, reportedly ruining it. We’re talking about the Saeta jet fighter (designed by Willy Messerschmitt) that used to be next to the gasolinera at the top of town.
