Small Almuñécar Hill Fire

There was a small fire on farming land within the municipality of Almuñécar yesterday afternoon, which Infoca soon dealt with.

Infoca used three foot units, two fire trucks and a helicopter to put it out. The actual location of the fire was Rescate, which is more behind La Herradura than Almuñecar.

However, fire fighters have been very busy elsewhere in Spain tackling large fires, namely in Castilla-Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia, Madrid (the region) Extremadura, as well as other parts of Andalucía.

Nearly 6,000 residents and tourists within León, Zamora, Orense, Madrid and Cádiz had to be evacuated. One person also died from burns who had been trapped by flames in a Madrid riding school, in a fire on the outskirts of Tres Cantos, where in a just a few hours, the blaze tore through 1,000 hectares of pastures, scrubland and trees.
