Tragedy was avoided in Dénia thanks to the rescue of two young children who had drifted out to sea on an inflatable surfboard.
Neither of the two kids, aged four and six, had lifejackets or wearable buoyancy aids, or had been under any apparent adult supervision.

According to the Policía Local in Dénia, the minors were located and rescued Saturday afternoon at a distance of almost a kilometre from the shore.
The police used one of their own, small RIBs to bring them back to the beach and their waiting parents.
The police, having identified the parents, have opened an investigation into the event; i.e., how two children of such a young age, managed to get into such danger whilst in the care of their parents.
