Elderly Woman Rescued

The emergency services in Almuñécar saved the life of a woman in her 90s who was found at her home on the P-4, unable to move.

The Policía Local and the Cuerpo de Bomberos were alerted to the plight of the 91-year-old woman by her nephew who lives in Madrid, as she was not answering her phone.

These emergency services went round to her flat on Calle Tetuán, next to the Post Office. Calling at her door they could hear a faint voice responding. She said that she was unable to move and thus let them in, which is where the fire service came into play to gain access to the flat, using their extending ladder to reach one of her balconies.

They found her lying on the floor, where she had been several days, without being able to drink or eat, leaving her dehydrated. She was rapidly attended to by medical staff from the Centro de Salud and then sent by ambulance to Hospital Santa Ana in Motril.
