Cantarriján Wells Serviced

The Chairman of the Mancomunidad, Rafael Caballero (also known as ‘plenty salaries’) visited the three wells in Cantarriján that supply water to La Herradura and Almuñécar.

He was accompanied by Mayor, Juan José Ruiz Joya (a man with a penchant for gigantic avocados) the Councillor for Agriculture, Carlos Ferrón and the manager of the water-utility company Aguas y Servicios, Alejandro Jurado, a.k.a. Bubbles.

The four men (not a woman amongst them) gathered around the wells whilst Chairman (not-short-of-a-bob) Caballero explained that the Mancomunidad had spent 45,000 euros, 20,000 of which went on doing up the access track to the wells and clearing up the area in general and 25,000 on renewing materials and the installation of a new pump in Well Nº2.

They needed a specialised crane to hook the old well-lining pipe out, along with the submersible pump, some 200 metres down, and replace them.

According to the utility-company manager, Well Nº2 supplies 8% of the municipality’s needs, which is equivalent to between 25% and 30% of what La Herradura consumes.

All rumours that some of the dosh went on beers and strip clubs lack any substance and you should be ashamed of yourselves for even thinking it… sort of.
