Man Stung to Death

A beekeeper died after being attacked by a swarm of bees whilst working amongst hives in Alcaine (Teruel, Castlla la Mancha).

The 63-old man, who was from Zaragoza, collapsed from a respiratory failure after being stung multiple time on the face.

According to the Alcaine Town Hall, the incident took place last Sunday whilst the worker was applying a health treatment to several hives. Suddenly, he was attacked by a large number of bees.

The ambulance rushed him to a Centro de Salud in Muniesa, some 20 minutes away, where he was given an adrenaline injection whilst medidcal staff applied CPR. However, the doctors were unable to revive him.

The Mayor of Alcaine, Carlos Pardo, said that the victim often come to the town on weekends to visit relatives.

It has not been made known whether he was allergic to bee stings, which would seem an odd choice of profession if he were.
