Nurse Saves Man’s Life on Beach

A male nurse, who was walking along Playa del Puntalón in Motril around noon yesterday, saw that a man was in difficulty in the water, so he plunged in.

The wife of the nurse also helped get the man, who was unconscious, out of the water. The nurse immediately began CPR and kept it up until the ambulance arrived.

The paramedics had to cross the beach on foot as the ambulance is not equipped to drive on sand. In fact, the Motril fire service, the lifeguards and the Policía Nacional all came to the victim’s aid to get him to the waiting ambulance once his condition was stabilised enough to move.

Once onboard, he was rushed to Hospital Comarcal Santa Ana and put in the ICU due to his serious condition.
