The Spanish road authorities (DGT) have told Almuñécar Town Hall to stop farting around with the N-340 roundabout (the one that give access to Los Pinos).
Consequently the Councillor for Public Works, Francisco Rodríguez, announced a temporary halt to work on this roundabout, which is, after all, the main roundabout for traffic coming from the East along the N-340.

Councillor Rodríguez explained that, “The DGT have established that between the 15th of June and the 15th of September, work on the N-340 can only take place in the early hours of the morning, which consequenty, would be bothersome for locals trying to sleep.”
According to the Councillor, however, the majority of the work has already been completed, with the only tasks left to complete being lighting and decorations… He considers that these last tasks would not cause a problem for traffic using this junction but, he says, the Town Hall respects the DGT’s decision.
Traffic coming off the A-44 onto the N-340 already runs into tailbacks because you have twins lanes bleeding into just one. Westbound from that point is further hindered by vehicles trying to enter Salobreña, after which things become easier until you reach the said Almuñécar roundabout. Drivers could take the Taramay junction to enter Almuñécar along Velilla, but that’s the equivalent of “jumping out the frying pan into the fire.”
Editorial comment: Did the Town Hall really need telling to stop screwing up the traffic flow along the N-340? Evidently, it did. Where is my eye-rolling emoji when I need it?
