Revamping Sewage Plant

The Chairman of the Mancomunidad, Rafael Caballero, and the Mayor of Almuñécar, Juan José Ruiz Joya, amongst others, visited the sewage-treatment plant (EDAR) in La Herradura.

They were there to see how the improvement to the aireation of the biological process was coming along. This modification would enable the installations to handle triple the load that it already does.

The modification will also convert the EDAR into “generator of ecological products,” such as energy, regenerated water for irrigation and liquid fertilisers.

Chairman Caballero explained that the new aireation paddles cost 67,000 euros whilst the Mayor chipped in with how wonderful it was that different administrations cooperated for the benefit of residents. He could have added that it is utterly irresponible when they don’t…
