Another Vega Fire

The fire that broke out down on Salobreña vega in the TH1 area was still being dampened down yesterday morning after it sprang back into life.

The fire consumed 46,000 sq/m of mainly wild cane and then yesterday morning the flames were back after being put out Monday night around midnight by the Motril fire service.

The fire began around six in the evening and very soon the fire service, the Salobreña Policía Local, Guardia Civil and Protección Civil were at the scene. Tackling the fire was made more difficult because of the wind. They got through 24,000 litres of water putting it out.

The Guardia Civil are investigating if there is any relation with the fire on the vega on the 19th of this month.

Editorial comment: Windy day; fire on the vega: deliberate. On another point, the figure given is 46,000 sq/m… that is a lot of land so they might have put an extra zero on it by mistake, perhaps.
