Snow Running Championships

A whole gaggle of politicians clustered for a group photograph to announce the upcoming 14th Edition of Snow Running in Sierra Nevada.

Obviously Jesús Ibáñez, the Head of the semi-public entity which runs the ski resort, Cetursa, was there and we could mention the Chairwoman of the Andalusian Federation for Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking, María Luz Arráez.

Hell, we could even mention the Head of Public Visits to the Alhambra, Gonzalo Mochón, but who is really interested other than the politicians themselves, right?

Anyway, the event will be held up on the Sierra Nevada on the 1st of February (this coming Saturday). This race on foot through the snow (arguably for lunatics) is a pioneer event of its kind in Andalusia and Spain, and attracts participants from all around the world.

The XIV Snow Running Sierra Nevada has 620 male runners and 210 female ones, all from sixten different countries.

The start of the XIV Sierra Nevada Snow Running Championship will begin on February 18:30h and the awards ceremony will take place that same day, at the Cine Telecabina, at 21.30h.

Well, it snowed yesterday up on the southern and western face of the Sierra Nevada, so plenty must have fallen where the ski resort is. They had better wear a hotwater bottle in their underpants if the snow is deep because we all know what happened to Napoleon traipsing back from Moscow in 1812 with those short little legs!
