Antonio Fuentes at the Librería 1616 in Salobreña has made known his Plan Lector 2025 for the first six months of this year.

The idea is to propose a book for reading between all those that wish to participate and on the last Wednesday of every month at 19.30h to gather in the bookshop and discuss the selected work.

Antonio Fuentes, through his very popular bookshop, also provides our book review, which for the February edition of the Seaside Gazette is As I Walked Out… by Laurie Lee.

Anyway, back to the Plan Lector, Antonio explains that the idea (which has been running for three years) is to inspire reading, which is something in decline amongst those of 40 and below.

The first reading will be on Wednesday the 29th and the novel to be discussed will be La cartera by Francesca Gianonne, which won the recognition of Best Works awarded by the Italian Independent Booksellers in 2024.

Then on the 26th of February, the chosen book is Nosotros en La Noche by  Kent Haruf. On March the 26th it will be El País de Las Mujeres by Gioconda Belli. In April on the 23rd the work will be El Coloquio de Los Perros by none other than Miguel de Cervantes!

Continuing on, May the 28th the book to be discussed is Mi Planta Naranja Lima by José Mauro de Vasconcelos and the last book to be read and discussed is on the 25th of June, is El Gen Rojo by Barbara Lamplugh (who lives in Salobreña).

Antonio Fuentes points out that these lectures are open for anybody to attend and entails no cost, although putting your name down in advance is required.
