There was a serious road accident this morning on the A-7 where it passes through the municipality of Motril, level with Puntalón.

The collision between two lorries occurred around 06.45h near kilometre point 888 and required that both lanes were closed to traffic untill the wreckage could be removed, which was achieved in one direction by just after nine that same morning.

The emergency coordination Centre despatched the Motril fire service, the Guardia Civil traffic police and an ambulance. Both drivers were trapped in their cabins requiring the specialised equipment used by the fire service to free them.

The Guardia Civil are investigating but first reports speak of one of the lorries being illegally parked on the hard shoulder.
